We were contacted by a school in the Somerset area to organise their year 11 school prom.
The Brief
To organise a memorable school prom with both a band and DJ as a last chance for both, students and teachers, to say goodbye to each other before taking life's next step! In short a school prom that all they ewould never forget.
The Production
The prom committee decided that to make their prom special and give it the feel of a grown up event they wanted both a band and DJ. After much deliberation they decided to splash out on a professional Funk, Soul and Disco band.
Like at any school prom, the sound quality is crucial to the event's success, enabling students to dance and enjoy the band. A 10,000 watt EAW Sound System and Martin Audio Foldback was chosen from the Viable Events in-house stock. The rig had plenty of headroom as it was driven by a eight channels of Lab Gruppen amps.
Viable Events provided a quality stage lighting rig that combined both new technology with old school Rock n Roll lighting this consisted of a 8k par can rig, six Showtec Phantom moving heads, two Showtec Sunstrips, four LED battens and a Martin Atomic strobe light. This was all rigged on a Trilite truss rig around the stage.
Finally Viable Events ensured the prom ran successfully by sourcing both the DJ and the SIA security staff.
We were very impressed with how professionally the school prom committee handled themselves and the behaviour of all the students and would welcome the opportunity to work on future school proms at the school.
